Frequently Asked Questions
What is FenFiber®?
FenFiber® is a fenugreek fiber that is derived from the fenugreek seed. It takes about 100 grams of seed to create 25 grams of FenFiber®.
All of the fenugreek used to create FenFiber® is grown in Canada. Each bottle can be traced to the Saskatchewan farmer who grew it.
What does FenFiber® do compared to taking a different fiber substitute?
The predominant fiber in FenFiber® is a soluble fiber consisting of a mannose backbone with galactose side units of 1:1 ratio. The unique molecular structure enhances the structural integrity of FenFiber® compared to other soluble fibers.
This results in FenFiber® having a stronger impact in the digestive system which creates these three outcomes:
- Creation of barrier for acid rising into the esophagus.
- Delaying the absorption of carbohydrates, thereby affecting postprandial glucose response.
- Bonding to bile salts to prevent re-absorption from the small intestine.
What this all means for you is an improved fast period (in terms of comfort and compliance) over other fiber substitutes!
What is FenFiber® not?
Is not a medicine, a pharmaceutical, or to be considered a ‘magic pill’. It is a fiber supplement to promote good health. You have to be consistent and take FenFiber® as directed to get the full benefit.
Why is fiber considered a key part of intermittent fasting?
Insulin is the hormone that regulates body fat storage. Intermittent fasting succeeds as a lifestyle against obesity, as it changes your body's relationship with insulin.
Fiber plays a massive role in reducing the insulin-simulating effects of carbohydrates, which in turn makes it one of the protective factors against obesity.
FenFiber® also helps you feel full for longer, as the nature of all fiber is to absorb water in the stomach and form a gel which increases volume, which increases satiety. The stomach will then take more time to empty, which means insulin and blood sugar levels are slower to rise.
All of this means you have a much easier and more effective fast!
What are some good resources to learn more about intermittent fasting?
We highly recommend Dr. Jason Fung and his books. He is a nephrologist in Ontario who specializes in actually permanently curing diabetes and obesity, not just treating it!
There is no affiliation with FenFiber® to Dr. Jason Fung or his work, we just find that his way of explaining the insulin relationship with weight loss is easy to follow. We recommend the following books:
What is the recommend intake of FenFiber®?
It all depends on your goals.
To help with intermittent fasting comfort and compliance we recommend the following dosage:
- Taking 1-2 capsules, with a full glass of water, 15 minutes before your first meal that breaks your fast.
- Taking 1-2 capsules, with a full glass of water with your last meal before your fast.
To help with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) we recommend:
- Start by taking 1-2 capsules, with a full glass of water, at night or in the morning to start off when treating heartburn.
- If heartburn continues try taking 1-2 capsules at least 10-15 minutes before each meal.
Do I need to follow intermittent fasting to take this?
No, not at all. While we encourage intermittent fasting as a lifestyle (when appropriate) for your health, FenFiber® is an amazing dietary fiber substitute to add to your diet.
Give me the raw FenFiber® science facts!
The predominant fiber in FenFiber® is a soluble fiber consisting of a mannose backbone with galactose side units. The molecular structure makes it slower for digestive enzymes to break down FenFiber® in the digestive tract. This makes it great at reducing the insulin impact of carbohydrates.
FenFiber® has a minimum of 90% total dietary fiber content.
FenFiber® comes in bottles with 120 capsules.
Should I see a doctor before taking FenFiber®?
A doctor consultation is always best before attempting anything new, especially if you have any underlying health conditions or are embarking on any major life style changes (eg. intermittent fasting). FenFiber® is not a medicine, but a dietary fiber supplement.
I have diabetes, should I see a doctor before taking FenFiber®?
Yes, as FenFiber® will impact your blood glucose levels. You should consult with your doctor before any dietary changes, such as increasing your fiber intake with FenFiber®.
I see that GERD is also a benefit for customers, so why is GERD not focused on more instead of the sole focus on intermittent fasting?
Intermittent fasting has been proven to have a lot of benefits. As a result, intermittent fasting treats a lot of symptoms and conditions for a lot of people.
GERD is just one of the symptoms we can help with FenFiber®, but we feel that by promoting improved intermittent fasting compliance with FenFiber®, we will also fix a lot of other issues people experience as well.
Long story short - we think we can do more good to more people by focusing on making intermittent fasting easier and more comfortable. FenFiber® is still a world class GERD product with amazing results, but that is just one of the many ways that it can help!
Do you as the owners take FenFiber®?
Absolutely! One of our owners takes it for his intermittent fasting/weight training routine, and the other to help control his GERD.
